Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Regretted Fighting For Integration & Wanted Black Economic Power

Black community, US Events, World Events

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. thought that America had a schizophrenic personality and informed us that this country was weakened in its integrity, and confused and confounded in its direction.

True power is ECONOMIC POWER!

Although we’re all familiar with Dr. Martin Luther King’sI Have a Dream” speech, there is much more to be discussed about the civil rights leader. King led the fight for the Civil Rights Movement from 1955-1968 and encouraged the world to learn to accept each other and to co-exist peacefully, but along the way he discovered that he may have bit off more than he could chew with fighting for integration and acceptance from Whites. According to Harry Belafonte, the last conversation that he had with Dr. King was about how much he regretted fighting only for integration.

I’ve come upon something that disturbs me deeply. We have fought hard and long for integration, as I believe we should have, and I know we will win.  But I have come to believe that we are integrating into a burning house.  I’m afraid that America has lost the moral vision she may have had. And I’m afraid that even as we integrate, we are walking into a place that does not understand that this nation needs to be deeply concerned with the plight of the poor and disenfranchised. Until we commit ourselves to ensuring that the underclass is given justice and opportunity, we will continue to perpetuate the anger and violence that tears the soul of this nation. I fear I am integrating my people into a burning house.”

Dr. King realized that although the fight for integration would be victorious, there would be a larger battle for his community–a battle of economic rights. The Baptist minister then began to move forward in a different direction and aimed to use his platform to spread Black consciousness and Black economics. He expressed that the Black community had to demand to be afforded equal economic opportunities and abandon the concept of just wanting to be accepted. Economic freedom is our power and the civil rights activist began to address this truth openly before the government decided to assassinate him and silence his platform forever.

President Elect-Donald Trump

US Events, World Events

Image result for donald trump president

I am NOT surprised that the electoral college chose Donald Trump. In my PERSONAL opinion, the only thing that white men hate more than dealing with a black president, is to elect a WOMAN for president. It upsets me that Hillary Clinton won the popular vote, and it was thrown to the side as if those voices and opinions didn’t count OR MATTER and Donald Trump was elected. This, more than anything else, lets you know that they will continue to DO WHAT THEY WANNA DO!!!

I don’t even want to go too deeply into this because I try my best to leave politics out of my blog….

What are your thoughts on Donald Trump being elected the President of the United States?

Lemme’ Get a “Tub” -Treasury Decides To Place Harriet Tubman On the 20$ Bill

Black community, US Events

According to a spokesman from the Treasury Department  Harriet Tubman will be the face of the new 20$ bill.

There’s been an uproar for having a woman on American currency by several women’s groups and a nonprofit campaign named “Women on 20s” was started with Eleanor Roosevelt, Rosa Parks, Harriet Tubman and several others. Tubman was the winner of a 10 week poll last year and eventually several lawmakers joined in on the 20$ bill decision. So technically this is about gender equality ya’ll not race!

There’s much debate right now in our community that this is the government’s phony way of giving Blacks reparations or to make amends with Blacks. There’s also talk that this is just a way to ensure that our youth know that we were once slaves.

Personally, I feel proud that a former slave, abolitionist, humanitarian, and Black woman will grace American currency. Is this reparations for African-Americans? HELL NO! And our youth should know where they came from. Harriet Tubman was a slave, but she was also a freedom fighter. She represents strength and courage. This is one tiny step for America. We have a long way to go.

Unarmed Black Male Shot and Killed in Raleigh, NC

Black community, US Events, World Events

24 year old Akiel Denkins was shot and killed by a police officer on  Monday ( February 29th, 2016) in Raleigh, North Carolina.  Raleigh police are “investigating” the officer-involved shooting where witnesses say that Denkins was shot in the back 7 times while running from a white officer. Once Denkin’s mother, Rolanda Byrd,  approached the scene she stated that her son’s body lay on the ground behind a building for over two hours and that officers would not allow her to see or identify the body. It’s been stated that Denkins was wanted for felony drug charges and Raleigh’s police chief Cassandra Deck-Brown also stated that a firearm was found in “close proximity to the deceased body.”  (via: CNN)

It is still unclear what drug charges Denkins was wanted for and his family is denying the presence of a gun at the scene. The officer has been identified as Senior Officer D.C. Twiddy. He is 29 years old  and has worked for the department since 2009. He is currently on administrative duty until the completion of the state’s investigation. Supposedly the state authorities have gotten involved and will be conducting a criminal investigation into the shooting.  Raleigh’s Police Department Internal Affairs is also involved and investigating. Deck-Brown has promised to release a report to city officials within the next five business days.

Denkins was a father of two, well known in the community and in school studying to obtain higher education. Denkin’s teacher told CNN, ” it’s real personal for me, because he wasn’t just my student, he was more like another son to me. He has a lot of promise, had hope, and had a future.” (via: CNN)

Black Female Student Attacked By School Resource Officer

Black community, Police Brutality, US Events, World Events

A South Carolina Resource Officer (Ben Fields) throws and arrests a high school student in the video shown below. The young black female student of Spring Valley High is shown sitting in her seat with the officer standing over her and all of a sudden he grabs her around her neck and yanks her from her desk. When she falls out of her desk he then pulls her toward the front of the classroom and says “Give me your hands.”

The entire classroom is quiet, but the outrage of South Carolina has been heard and many want the SRO fired.

According to CNN, the student was asked to leave the classroom several times and refused. The assistant principal was also present in the classroom and called the Resource Officer to have the girl removed.

Was the officer within his rights? Some say that she’s just a kid and his act of violence is unacceptable and enough cause for termination.

Celebrity News, US Events

51-year old Jason “Jace” Alexander has been arrested and charged with two felonies: possessing and sharing illegal and obscene performances of sexual conduct by children under the age of 17. Jason was busted after an investigator downloaded child pornography off the internet and traced the file’s IP address back to Jason’s home address in West Chester, New York. His home was searched and authorities say that they discovered computers and external hard drives stocked with files of minors engaged in child pornography. He was released on 10,000$ bail and he faces 7 years if he is convicted. Alexander is married to actress Maddie Corman, who has appeared on Law & Order and Law & Order: SVU several times, and together they share three children. After spending ten years directing Law & Order episodes you wouldn’t think Alexander would actually participate in something like this. SMH. The irony of this is beyond words!
