Black community, Celebrity News, Hip Hop/R&B, Movies

With Tupac’s Biopic “All Eyez On Me” just a few days away, let’t take a moment to appreciate actor Demetrius Shipp, Jr.‘s (he portrays Tupac in the biopic) recreation of Tupac Shakur’s most iconic Vibe magazine covers. The movie releases this Friday, June 16th.

I am so excited to see this movie! I have tickets for an advance screening on Thursday so I will definitely let ya’ll know if it’s a thumbs up or thumbs down! (Can’t give ya’ll specifics though…)

Watch the video below of Shipp’s BTS of his Vibe shoot:

Joseline Hernandez On The Real

Celebrity News, TV Shows/Reviews

I don’t watch The Real the way I used to when Tamar Braxton was on it, but I have been able to catch a few snippets here and there with my girl Joseline Hernandez (Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta) as a guest co-host and I wanted to post about it because I am really proud of her and happy for her.

For those of us that watch reality tv and happen to watch LHHATL, ya’ll know that Joseline is the last person that anyone ever expected to be acting (Star) and doing guest spots on family friendly shows like “The Real.” I think it speaks volumes for her brand and it definitely shows us that she’s maturing a bit. I am here for it!

Season 2 of UNDERGROUND is ON THE WAYY!!!!

Black community, TV Shows/Reviews

I’m so excited!!! Underground season 2 is coming back March 8th, 2017. Chile!!! If you know me then you know that I LOVED the first season of that show. I seen that trailer and got excited! I did not do any live reviews on last season of Underground and I typically don’t even DO reviews at ALL, but for this season I think that I will. I really enjoyed the first season and I was really impressed with Jurnee Smollett Bell (Rosalee), Aldis Hodge (Noah), Alano Miller (Cato), and the Most High knows that I LOVED Amirah Vann as Ernestine.  Oh, and Darielle Stewart (Boo) ! This season they cast the bald head lady Aisha Hinds as Harriet Tubman. She is a HELLUVA actress and I am literally THRILLED!

Stay tuned for future posts/updates.

Watch the Trailer for “When the Bough Breaks”

This thriller stars Morris Chestnut and Regina Hall and is set to release in September of this year.

Morris and Regina play a young and professional couple who really want a baby. They try all of their options before deciding on hiring the “perfect” surrogate mother. (Jaz Sinclair) The lady becomes crazy after getting abused by her boyfriend and becomes fatally attracted to Morris. They find out about her background and realize that they made a mistake and they realize that they really hired a psycho to carry their seed. They end up fighting this lady and trying to prevent her from walking away with their baby or even worse, killing it.

That’s my personal summary for ya’ll! LOL.

This trailer reminds me of The Hand that Rocks the Cradle and Fatal Attraction. I hope it’s good!

(Oh yea and I think this is a black remake!)

Chris Brown Drops Trailer For New Documentary “Welcome To My Life”

Celebrity News, Hip Hop/R&B, Movies, Music

Chris Brown gives us a glance into his troubled past with his new documentary “Welcome To My Life.”

Within the trailer we get to hear from several celebrities like Jamie Foxx and Usher who give us their take on Brown’s talent. His mother also speaks stating, ” He grew up so fast that he didnt get to have a childhood or a teenage life of a normal person.”

Chris speaks on his relationship with Rihanna and how it felt like a “fairytale.” He also talks about their altercation and admits that he felt like a “monster” and how he became viewed as “Public Enemy #1″ in America. He reveals that he couldn’t eat or sleep and did nothing other than get high everyday. He also reveals that he contemplated suicide and there’s a clip of his mother stating ” ..I was afraid that I was going to lose my child…”

They show a few clips of his tour and performances and I hope that they actually get into his career making a comeback after all that he went through. I hope this leads to more documentaries from celebrities! Remember MTV’s Diary? VH1’s Behind The Music? Bring that back!

This documentary definitely seems worth watching and I’m sure ya’ll know by now that I love me some Chris Brown  so I’ll definitely be viewing it! As of now, there is no release date, but ya’ll know that I will update ya!

Benny Boom Will Direct Tupac BioPic

Black community, Celebrity News, Hip Hop/R&B, Movies, Music

It seems as if Tupac is finally getting his own biopic in movie theaters, but will it uphold his legacy or paint him in a negative light?

Word is, Benny Boom has signed on to direct the upcoming film, replacing Carl Franklin. Benny directed movies S.W.A.T: Firefight, Next Day Air, and several music videos.  Boom took to his Instagram account to confirm the news, ” I am blessed with the opportunity of a lifetime. Telling the story of this revolutionary, artist, visionary, genius, soldier! I will make him proud and uphold the legacy.“-@boomlife

There have been talks of a Tupac movie for several years and John Singleton was once on board with this particular project before he dropped out stating that there were “major creative differences.” John also took to his Instagram account to say,”Real talk! The reason I am not making this picture is because the people involved aren’t really respectful of the legacy of Tupac Amaru Shakur.”

Tupac starred in Poetic Justice alongside Janet Jackson in 1993. The film was directed by John Singleton.

Director John Singleton was replaced by Carl Franklin and Carl has now been replaced with Benny Boom. With so many directors stepping up and stepping down, is there a chance that this movie may not be exactly what we’ve been waiting for?

I’m excited about a possible Tupac biopic, but I will not support a film that is aimed to hurt his legacy. So they better come correct and Benny if it’s not right-DON’T YOU DO IT EITHER! Hell, this same company (Morgan Creek) sued ‘Pac’s mom (Afeni Shakur) for the rights to his music for the film and she sued their asses right back! They did eventually reach an agreement, but if this movie doesn’t undergo production by the end of this year the rights revert back to mama! So we will see…

Spike Lee Releases Trailer To New Movie- ChiRaq

Black community, Movies

ChiRaq’s Movie Poster

Spike Lee releases new trailer to his upcoming film Chiraq that will premiere in theaters December 4th. The movie has an all star cast with acting giants like Angela Bassett, Samuel L. Jackson, Wesley Snipes, John Cusack, T’Keyah Crystal Keymah, and Harry Lennix. Also featured are Nick Cannon, Jennifer Hudson, Dave Chapelle, Felicia Pearson, LaLa Anthony, and Teyonah Parris. Now I was excited to see a new Spike Lee film because that means work for our Black actors/actresses, but I’m not too sure about this new film. It kind of seems like a mockery of all of the terrible killings that have taken place in Chicago. I mean, Spike Lee’s suggestion of women withholding sex from Chicago’s gang bangers and drug dealers to stop the murders seems to be a little comedic. Hell, I can’t take any movie seriously with Nick Cannon in it. (Sorry, Nick) SMH. Is there anyone out there that thinks this could be a real solution? Or does Chi-raq just glorify the violence? Let me know…maybe I’m wrong. I’m still going to see the movie…can’t completely judge what you don’t watch! We’ll chat more about this December 4th!
